Diet of the Giant Panda PREDATORS AND THREATS OF THE GIANT PANDA
Smoke from houses pollutes the Giant panda's habitat.
ENVIROMENTAL DISASTER
A lot of rivers flood from rain water, which causes damage to Pandas homes. There were also a lot of trees cut down, and even though the Chinese government tried to stop, people kept on cutting down trees. A lot of trees were cut down for fire wood, and 25,000,000 trees were cut down for chopsticks. One other threat to Pandas is that rarely forest fires are started, and the smoke in the air effects their growth. A lot of bamboo also dies, and the pandas starve.
HABITAT LOSS
A lot of Pandas are born in the wild, and lose comfortable homes to farmers because they all have a weird liking of cutting down trees to use for their farm land. Pandas used to cover a total of 300,000 square miles to live in. Now it has been cut down 83,000 square miles. 85,000,000 people moved to the Sichuan mountains , where the pandas lived and it has made them lose serious numbers.
HUMAN THREATS
A lot of people planted fruit trees, but it effected pandas growth. There are also a lot of people living in the Sichuan mountains, and the amount of people is hurting Giant pandas population. People also made bad decisions and broke the law. They also broke into facilities and stole bamboo, and they would hurt pandas even when it went against the law.
ATTACKS/ PREDATORS
Pandas have many predators, which is unusual because of their size. One of the giant pandas most hated predators is a snow leopard. Another predator of the adult giant panda is a jackal. A yellow throated martin is an animal that could attack a baby panda every once and a while. The saddest part is that in zoo’s the dad has to be separated from its family because it might attack its cubs. The giant panda is a very quiet animal that will not fight back to other animals, so it’s pretty much defencless. The biggest threat to pandas is something we should not be proud of; humans.
EXTRA INFORMATION ABOUT PANDAS
Humans illegally trade and hunt animals in china, which is dangerous for pandas to live near. One other really sad fact about pandas is that they die faster in the zoo, so they need to be in the wilderness, but it’s too dangerous for them. Moms leave their cubs alone for a long time spand, so they could get attacked. Pandas are so rare that every 1,000,000 person in China = 1 panda! When cubs are left alone they sometimes try to climb trees and fall, which has been tested in zoos, and proved dangerous in the wilderness. 4,000 people live very dangerously near pandas, so pandas could get attacked by humans, and they lose numbers because it’s hard for them to reproduce in the wild.

Predators and Threats
By Harry and Jimena
Pandas are loosing food and habbitat to lumberman and builders.
The giant panda is an endangered species. Its main threats are humans, jackals, snow leopards, and the yellow-throated martin. There were about 1000 giant pandas left in the 1890s.Now there are about 1600 left in the wild and 200 – 300 in captivity. Earthquakes also hurt pandas.
Humans are their biggest threat. We hurt or kill them by taking bamboo for buildings, furniture and paper. Making roads and hydropower development and killing as a sport is also a threat. Bamboo forests are disappearing. Humans go up mountains and clear land, which makes pandas crowd into small areas and hog food, and then some other pandas die because they don’t get bamboo. Hunters kill giant pandas as trophies, and there are beliefs that their animal skins have magical powers. They also have been killed by scientists to study their body parts.
Giant pandas are peaceful and will avoid confrontation. They show aggression by lowering their heads and staring at their enemy. They can protect themselves as well as other bears. Panda bites can be very nasty. They can also defend themselves with their strong jaws and large molar teeth.
Many people are working to save the giant pandas.
